Aurora forecast questions and answers

Can I see an aurora in France tonight?
It is possible during suitable strong activity, but not a routine night-sky event. Check the forecast for your location, especially clouds to the north and local darkness. A national or European storm alert does not guarantee a display over France.
Should I use Dunkerque, Étretat or Pointe du Raz?
Choose the place relevant to your plans. They represent Hauts-de-France, Normandy and Brittany, with separate weather. The cards are examples rather than a ranking, and a clearer forecast hundreds of kilometres away may not be a practical option tonight.
Does a coastal viewpoint always face the right way?
No. Check that the part of the horizon you can see is toward the north. Cliffs, land and nearby lighting can still obstruct the view. Use established safe viewpoints; getting closer to an edge does not meaningfully improve an uncertain aurora chance.
